1 year ago, bored with the hectic tourist object and dont wanna like main stream tourists did, i planned to visit langkawi, in malaysia, instead of beaches in Thailand.
I wanna enjoy 'me time', get lost and enjoy the nature. As a person who grew up at big city, i never seen wild nature, especially eagles, one of bird species whoo looks like tough animal and often being symbol of states.
Langkawi name itself derives from 2 Malay's words; lang = eagle, kawi = brown.
Located in Kedah State in Malaysia, you can get there by flight from Singapore (Air Asia also fly to this spot) or any following State at Malaysia (Penang and Kuala Lumpur) The attractive site for tourist, not only the clean and beautiful beaches, but also the mangrove with its ecosystem.
Things to do or see in Langkawi :
1. Eco trip : mangrove trip, see the ecosytem in the mangrove, meet the cool monkeys and the rest habitat especially feeding and taking pictures of the brown eagles. I will never forget this experience, during the tour at small boats, our tour guide will explain about the mangrove and educate us with interesting way.
2. diving, snorkelling or beaching at "Pantai (=beach) Tengah" or "Pantai Cenang and Pantai Kok
3. sailing with yacht
4. culinary : please try "Orkid Ria" at Pantai Cenang, modern interior, clean (hiegenic) and yummy foods and "Fat Mum" at Pantai Tengah (house style)
Actually Indonesia also has mangrove trip such as at Kalimantan and Eastern Java, but maybe not many promotion and the community not really aware to actively take a great part to promote and maintain the environments
Enjoy theh pics and have a nice and safe trip
